We don't all have room for 6x4 foot or 60x44 inch boards at home. This can be frustrating for many of us for multiple reasons.
For games like Warhammer 40k if you want to play the full game & not Kill Team or a Combat Patrol game, working out your army sizes can be a pain.
If you build your own terrain, the board sizes manufacturers dictate to us can be difficult to build because of lack of room or may require skill sets some of us don't have. Not to mention the storage of our tiny plastic toy soldiers or the time it takes to build & paint an army. Oh & the time it can take to play a full size game can be off putting to many. These issues are exactly the same if you want to buy a gaming mat to play on.
Recently I have built myself a new Mars themed board using readily available materials, very basic wood working skills, I made sure I had room to store & play on it. The board was built from two A1 Artist Wooden Panels and it measures 45x31 inches. This complicates things as it is slightly bigger than a GW recommended Incursion board which allows up to 1000 points per army.
I wanted to find a way to maximize the armies I could use on my new board & this was the conclusion I came to:

From there I wondered if it was possible whether that mentality would work with other games with the thought in my head, 'what if you only have room for one board or mat but play multiple games'? Surely someone had already thought of this but I couldn't find anything online that made the calculation as easy as possible.
So here it is!
